Today, it no longer comes as a surprise to see hybrid supercars approaching the 1,000 hp mark, figures that until very recently were reserved for extremely limited-production hypercars with prices easily exceeding one million euros.

Hybrid technology has firmly established itself in the luxury supercar industry, and it is now almost unthinkable for a major manufacturer to launch a new model without combining an internal combustion engine with one or more electric motors. This formula not only allows for increasingly spectacular power figures, but also makes it possible to achieve them without sending prices soaring, bringing performance levels that were once out of reach closer to a broader audience within the segment.

Ferrari has been no exception to this evolution. Its first step came in 2013 with the LaFerrari, the first hybrid model in the brand’s history. It combined a naturally aspirated 6.3 litre V12 producing 800 hp with a 163 hp electric motor, delivering a total output of over 960 hp. However, it was not a plug-in hybrid and its electric motor could not operate independently, in addition to being an extremely limited production model.

The real turning point arrived in 2019 with the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, the brand’s first series produced plug-in hybrid. Capable of covering short distances in fully electric mode, it marked the beginning of a new era in Maranello. That evolutionary path continued in 2022 with the arrival of the Ferrari 296 GTB, the second plug-in hybrid from the Cavallino Rampante and, for many, the start of a new design and driving philosophy.

Today, the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB stand as the two main flagships of Ferrari’s hybrid era. In our Drive Me Barcelona fleet, we have a Ferrari 296 GTB, and in this article we explain how these two models differ, offering a clear and detailed overview of the characteristics that set each one apart.

Power and performance

Although both models share the distinction of being the only plug-in hybrids from Maranello and it might seem that they use a similar powertrain, the reality is quite different. It is precisely in their technical approach where the greatest differences between the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB can be found.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale combines a 3.9 litre twin turbo V8 producing 780 hp and 800 Nm of torque with three electric motors. One is located on the rear axle and two on the front axle, delivering a combined output of 220 hp. Thanks to this configuration, the SF90 features all wheel drive and a total system output of 1,000 hp, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, reach 200 km/h in only 6.7 seconds and achieve a top speed of 340 km/h.

The Ferrari 296 GTB, on the other hand, is the first road going Ferrari to be powered by a 2.9 litre twin turbo V6 with a 120º bank angle. This new six cylinder architecture, with its wide V layout and the forced induction system housed within it, is directly derived from Formula 1, where Ferrari has been using this same configuration in its single seaters since 2014. The V6 engine alone produces 663 hp, complemented by an electric motor mounted at the rear that adds a further 166 hp. Together, they deliver a total output of 830 hp and a maximum torque figure of 740 Nm, sent exclusively to the rear axle, unlike the SF90, which features all wheel drive. With these figures, the 296 GTB accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds and tops out at 330 km/h.

Despite their very different mechanical concepts, both models do share some key elements. Each features a rear mid engine layout and uses the same eight speed dual clutch transmission. In the case of the 296 GTB, this gearbox has been further refined to deliver a sharper and more immediate response.

Two designs with distinct philosophies

The exterior design of the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the Ferrari 296 GTB is another area where the two models differ most clearly. Both share a low and aggressive stance, a rounded front end and large air intakes, but beyond these general traits, each adopts a clearly differentiated design approach.

The Ferrari SF90 Stradale draws inspiration from models such as the 488 GTB, the SP38 and, above all, the exclusive J50. The front end features a rounded silhouette with sharply defined lines, highlighted by a bonnet that flows down towards a V shaped opening reminiscent of the F8 Tributo. On either side sit slim, sharply styled twin headlights with a C shaped lighting signature. The look is completed by a front bumper with two large integrated air intakes and a central section finished in black.

In profile, the design closely recalls the 488 GTB and the F8 Tributo, with large air intakes integrated into the side pontoons. These are slim and elongated, housing multiple internal ducts, each with specific functions such as cooling, air intake and aerodynamic flow management. The rear is where the influence of the J50 is most evident. The engine cover, finished in black, does not extend continuously into the roofline but instead sits separate and slightly recessed, a distinctive feature of the model that inspired it. The rear end is completed by two centrally mounted, high positioned exhaust outlets, along with a fixed rear wing and a carbon fibre diffuser very similar to that of the 296 GTB. The design is rounded off by four square shaped rear lights that extend towards the sides.

The Ferrari 296 GTB, by contrast, showcases a more compact design, particularly noticeable in its short and sharp front bumper, which remains purposeful without being excessively low. Its styling takes inspiration from the 1963 Ferrari 250 LM, blending sporty lines with clean, highly refined surfaces. The front is defined by a large central air intake, a pronounced carbon fibre splitter and a long bonnet that visually stretches the silhouette. The teardrop shaped headlights integrate air ducts that channel airflow directly to the front brakes for cooling.

The side profile flows with smooth curves, without the aggressive lines or sharp cuts seen on the SF90 Stradale. It also features large side air intakes, although these are integrated more discreetly and play a less dominant visual role than on the SF90, prioritising overall aesthetics without sacrificing aerodynamic function. At the rear, the design is very flat and slightly concave, maintaining a consistently low height. One of its most distinctive elements is the downward sloping roofline which, as on the SF90, does not connect seamlessly with the engine cover. In the case of the 296 GTB, this cover is a glass panel with an arched shape that reveals the V6 engine beneath. The rear is completed by an active central rear wing housed between the tail lights, along with a single centrally mounted exhaust outlet positioned high up.

Two virtually identical interiors

Ferrari has opted for a shared interior layout for both models, with very few differences between them. The cabin features a minimalist and sporty design, dominated by a large 16 inch digital display positioned behind the steering wheel, which acts as the instrument cluster. Fully configurable, it allows the driver to view real time telemetry and driving data, as well as manage the infotainment and navigation systems.

Both the SF90 Stradale and the 296 GTB also feature a second display for the passenger, which shows vehicle information such as engine speed and road speed, and allows basic control of multimedia and navigation functions. The only significant difference between the two interiors lies in the position of this screen. In the SF90 Stradale it is located in the centre of the dashboard and slightly angled towards the passenger, while in the 296 GTB it is positioned directly in front of the passenger. As a result, in the SF90 the driver can also interact with it, whereas in the 296 GTB it is reserved exclusively for the passenger.

In both models, digitalisation extends to every element of the cockpit, including the steering wheel. Traditional buttons and physical controls have been replaced by touch sensitive surfaces, with the iconic Manettino retained as the sole physical control. This provides access to the familiar driving modes: Wet, Sport, Race, Comfort, CT Off and ESC Off. Both cars also feature the new e-Manettino, a secondary selector used to manage the hybrid system through four electric modes. These include eDrive, which allows fully electric driving with a range of up to 35 kilometres, Hybrid, which automatically manages the combustion engine and electric motors with a focus on efficiency, Performance, which also operates in hybrid mode but prioritises performance, and Qualify, in which the electric motors deliver maximum output alongside the combustion engine.

Weight and dimensions

In terms of size, the Ferrari 296 GTB is significantly shorter than the SF90 Stradale. It measures 4,565 mm in length, which is 145 mm less than the SF90 Stradale’s 4,710 mm. The SF90 Stradale is also slightly wider, although the difference is minimal at just 5 mm, measuring 1,972 mm compared to the 1,968 mm width of the 296 GTB. As for height, both models are virtually identical, with the 296 GTB standing at 1,187 mm and the SF90 Stradale at 1,186 mm.

A more noticeable difference can be found in the wheelbase. It is worth highlighting that the 296 GTB has the shortest wheelbase of Ferrari’s current model range, at 2,600 mm, while the SF90 Stradale features a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. This difference has a direct impact on the dynamic behaviour of each car.

When it comes to weight, the hybrid system adds an additional load in both cases, prompting Ferrari to optimise the chassis and bodywork to minimise this extra mass. Both models use a chassis that combines carbon fibre and aluminium, along with various components made from lightweight alloys. In the SF90 Stradale, the three electric motors and the battery add 270 kg, while in the 296 GTB, which is equipped with a single electric motor and a smaller battery, the increase is limited to 99 kg. This difference is clearly reflected in their final figures. The SF90 Stradale has a dry weight of 1,570 kg, compared to 1,470 kg for the 296 GTB, placing the latter 100 kg below its larger sibling.

Finally, when looking at the power to weight ratio, the SF90 Stradale comes out on top with a figure of 1.57 kg per hp, compared to 1.88 kg per hp for the Ferrari 296 GTB.

Conclusion

After reviewing the main differences between the Ferrari SF90 Stradale and the Ferrari 296 GTB, it becomes clear that although they are the only plug-in hybrid models from Maranello and may initially appear very similar, in reality they are fundamentally different cars.

The first major distinction lies in their mechanical approach. The SF90 Stradale combines a V8 engine with three electric motors, enabling all-wheel drive, while the 296 GTB becomes the first road-going Ferrari to feature a V6 engine paired with a single electric motor, retaining a rear-wheel-drive layout. When it comes to power, both models deliver figures more typical of a hypercar than a supercar, with the SF90 Stradale producing 1,000 hp and the 296 GTB offering an equally impressive 830 hp.

From a design perspective, each model follows a clearly differentiated visual direction. The Ferrari SF90 Stradale conveys a more aggressive, technical and futuristic image, with sharp lines, highly sculpted surfaces and aerodynamics that play a visually dominant role. The Ferrari 296 GTB, by contrast, adopts a cleaner, more fluid and elegant design, with softer curves and more compact proportions, inspired by classic Ferrari models reinterpreted in a modern way. This aesthetic contrast reinforces the idea that, despite sharing plug-in hybrid technology, both cars are conceived to deliver very different sensations and driving experiences.

Both models reflect the direction Ferrari will follow in the coming years, with hybridisation as a central pillar. An evolution that makes it possible to achieve ever higher levels of performance without leading to a disproportionate increase in price.

At Drive Me Barcelona, you have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Ferrari 296 GTB and experience first-hand the unique sensations it delivers.

Are you planning a trip to Barcelona and would like to rent a supercar to have it ready the moment you land? Whether you want to cruise along the Catalan coast, get around the city in style, or take a scenic route inland, renting a luxury car directly at the airport guarantees an exclusive and seamless experience from the very first minute.

In this article, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about renting a supercar at Barcelona Airport: the requirements you must meet, how to arrange the vehicle’s pickup and return, and the best tips to enjoy a smooth, fast, and hassle-free process.

Why rent a supercar at Barcelona Airport?

Renting a luxury supercar right at Barcelona Airport isn’t just convenient, it’s a smart way to make the most of your time in the city from the moment you land. Picture this: you step off the plane and your supercar is already waiting for you. No transfers, no delays, no last-minute logistics. Just get behind the wheel and start your journey in total freedom.

This type of luxury car rental is ideal for travelers who value efficiency, discretion, and top-tier service. Whether you’re in Barcelona for business or on a well-earned vacation, having your supercar ready at the airport lets you travel at your own pace and in the style you deserve. On top of that, you’ll enjoy personalized attention and professional support right from the start.

Most rental companies at Barcelona Airport –such as Europcar, Sixt, or Hertz– primarily offer standard vehicles designed for city driving and everyday comfort. While some of them do provide high-end models like Audi, BMW, or Mercedes-Benz, these are typically sedans or SUVs aimed at family or executive travel, not true supercars. However, if you’re dreaming of getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche, your best bet is to go through a specialized luxury car rental service outside the airport. These companies offer top-tier vehicles and provide direct delivery to the terminal, ready for your arrival.

At Drive Me Barcelona, we offer one of the most exclusive fleets of supercars in Spain, featuring brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, McLaren, Aston Martin, and BMW. We specialize in luxury car rentals and tailor-made driving experiences for those seeking more than just transportation. Whether you’re after sleek design, thrilling performance, or a versatile option to enjoy with family, we have the perfect car for you. We provide both delivery and pickup directly at Barcelona Airport, so you can start enjoying your supercar the moment you land, and return it right before your flight, with zero hassle and no wasted time.

Requirements for renting a supercar in Spain

While each rental company may have its own specific conditions, the general requirements tend to be quite similar. Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning to rent one of our supercars at Drive Me Barcelona.

Contrary to what many people believe, being of legal age and holding a driver’s license isn’t enough. To rent a supercar, the driver must be at least 25 years old and have held a valid driver’s license for a minimum of two years.

Additionally, if your home country is not part of the Vienna Convention –such as Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, the United States, India, Japan, New Zealand, or Turkey –you’ll also need to present an International Driving Permit (IDP). This document serves as an official translation of your national license and is required by both local authorities and rental agencies. It’s a straightforward process that you can complete easily through internationaldriversassociation.com.

As for required documentation, you’ll need to present two original documents: your driver’s license and a valid passport or your NIE (Foreigner Identification Number).

Payment, Deposit, and Insurance policy

To ensure a transparent rental experience with no surprises, it’s important to understand how payment is handled and exactly what the rental agreement includes. The final rental price covers the base cost of the vehicle, the agreed rental period, any additional services selected, and all applicable taxes and fees. Additional charges may apply for potential damages, unrefueled fuel tanks, excess mileage, or returns made outside the agreed schedule.

The credit card used for payment must be in the name of the main driver, as it will be used to block the security deposit. This deposit, which serves as a guarantee against any unforeseen issues, ranges from 5.000€ to 9.000€ depending on the selected vehicle. It’s essential to ensure your card has enough available credit to cover this hold, in addition to any other expenses that may arise during the rental period. The deposit will be released once the car is returned, provided there are no incidents or damages.

All our rentals include comprehensive insurance. However, certain parts of the vehicle, such as mirrors, windows, tires, and rims are not covered. These components are considered especially prone to damage due to driver responsibility and are therefore excluded from coverage. In the event of damage to these elements, the full repair cost must be covered by the renter.

How the rental process works

Have your documents ready. Make sure your driver’s license is valid and, if necessary, obtain your International Driving Permit ahead of time. Having all your paperwork prepared will help avoid delays or issues on rental day.

Understand the rental agreement. Carefully reviewing the terms and conditions will help you avoid surprises. Check what the insurance covers, the vehicle’s limitations, and your responsibilities as a driver. It’s also a good idea to inform us in advance about your rental duration and estimated mileage, so we can offer you an accurate quote without unexpected extra charges.

Be punctual and stay in touch. We understand that flights can be delayed, but punctuality is crucial, especially when returning the vehicle. Our team will be waiting for you at the agreed time at the airport. If any issues arise, please let us know as soon as possible so we can adjust accordingly without disrupting the service.

Spain is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. Its unique blend of history, culture, breathtaking landscapes, and enviable climate attracts millions of visitors every year.

From Gaudí’s modernist architecture in Barcelona to the majestic Islamic heritage of the Alhambra in Granada or the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba, visiting Spain is a true immersion into centuries of history and tradition. Every corner of the country holds a unique legacy: ancestral customs, iconic monuments, distinctive architectural styles, and a rich gastronomy make Spain a global benchmark in cultural wealth.

But the country’s charm goes beyond its heritage. Spain also boasts a privileged geography, with Mediterranean beaches, mountain trails in the Pyrenees, and volcanic landscapes in the Canary Islands. All of this, enjoyed under a mild climate for most of the year, makes Spain one of the world’s most desired travel destinations.

If you’re planning a trip to Spain, why not explore its streets and roads in a truly special and stylish way behind the wheel of a supercar? Whether you’re planning a coastal getaway, a city cruise, or a scenic road trip inland, renting a high-end car will give you the freedom and excitement your journey deserves.

In this article, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about renting a supercar in Spain: from the basic requirements to the best tips for making your experience unforgettable.

Requirements for renting a supercar in Spain

Renting a supercar in Spain is more accessible than many people might think. Although there is a common perception that this type of rental is significantly more complicated than renting a regular car, the truth is that as long as you meet the basic requirements, the process is quite straightforward.

Each rental company may set its own conditions, but generally, you’ll need to meet a minimum age requirement, hold a valid driver’s license, and have a credit card in the driver’s name to cover deposits or potential additional charges.

Below, we’ll break down these requirements in more detail so you can prepare for your rental without unexpected setbacks and enjoy the experience with complete peace of mind.

Minimum age requirements

Knowing the minimum age to rent a supercar in Spain is essential. While it might seem that being of legal age and holding a driver’s license is enough, the reality is more nuanced. The required age typically ranges between 21 and 25, depending on the rental company.

In most cases, you must be at least 25 years old. However, some companies do allow rentals from the age of 21, provided you pay an additional fee, known as a young driver surcharge. This extra charge is not fixed and can vary significantly from one company to another.

If you’re under 25, it’s important to factor in this potential cost when planning your trip. Being informed about these conditions will help you better manage your budget and avoid unexpected surprises during the rental process.

Driver’s license and required documentation

Having a valid driver’s license is another key requirement for renting a supercar in Spain, and it can often lead to some confusion. In general, the license must be at least two years old and remain valid throughout the entire rental period.

If you come from a country that is not a signatory to the Vienna Convention, such as Saudi Arabia, Australia, Canada, the United States, India, Japan, New Zealand, or Turkey, you will also need to present an International Driving Permit (IDP). This document serves as an official translation of your national license into multiple languages, making it easier for both local authorities and rental agencies to verify your credentials. Obtaining an IDP is a simple process and can be done easily through internationaldriversassociation.com.

As for mandatory documentation, most rental companies will require two original forms of identification: your driver’s license and a valid passport or a foreigner identification number (NIE).

Payment policy, Deposit, and Insurance

To ensure your rental experience is safe and hassle-free, it’s essential to understand how the payment process works and what the rental agreement includes. The rental fee covers the base price of the vehicle, the agreed rental period, any selected additional services, as well as applicable taxes or fees. Additional charges may also apply for vehicle damage, unrefueled fuel tanks, excess mileage, or late returns.

The credit card used must be in the name of the primary driver, as it will be used by the rental company to hold the security deposit. This amount acts as a guarantee against potential damage or extra charges and can vary significantly depending on the vehicle model and each company’s policy; renting a Ferrari is not the same as renting a Mercedes-Benz. Therefore, it’s important to ensure your card has sufficient available credit to cover the deposit, along with any other incidental expenses that may arise during the rental. The deposit will be refunded upon return of the vehicle, provided no issues are reported.

In most cases, the rental includes comprehensive insurance, although this typically excludes certain vulnerable parts such as side mirrors, windows, tires, and rims. These components are often considered prone to damage caused directly by the driver, which is why they are not covered. In the event of damage to these elements, you will be responsible for the full cost of repair.

Tips for renting a supercar

To ensure your rental experience lives up to your expectations, it’s important to take certain precautions and keep a few key aspects in mind. Before deciding which supercar to rent, compare the available options across different companies. Even if it’s the same model, prices can vary significantly depending on the provider. Carefully reviewing all options will help you find the one that best suits your needs and budget.

Once you’ve chosen the car and rental company, try to book in advance. In popular tourist destinations like Barcelona, Madrid, Marbella, or Ibiza, these high-end vehicles are in high demand, especially during peak season. Booking early not only guarantees availability but can also help you secure better conditions.

Read the rental contract carefully. Clearly understanding what the insurance covers, any limitations, and your responsibilities as the driver will help you prepare for any unforeseen issues. Many companies apply daily mileage limits or charge extra for additional kilometers. It’s also common for them to require the vehicle to be returned with a full tank of fuel. Being aware of these terms will help you avoid unexpected charges.

Finally, don’t forget to perform a thorough inspection of the vehicle when picking it up. Take photos from different angles and make sure any existing damage, cosmetic or mechanical, is noted in the delivery report. This visual documentation can protect you from potential disputes and unjustified claims when returning the vehicle.

Alongside Ferrari, Lamborghini has become one of the most popular and admired supercar brands in the world. Its aggressive design, wide stance, and low profile, almost hugging the ground, create a distinctive silhouette. Even those who aren’t car enthusiasts recognize and admire the bold lines, the deep, thunderous roar of its engines, and that aura of exclusivity and character that makes every model from the brand truly unique.

The Huracan is the most successful model in Lamborghini’s history, with over 20,000 units sold since its launch in 2014. Why? Because it perfectly balances performance, design, and practicality. It’s not as radical or exclusive as the Aventador, Lamborghini’s flagship, nor as geared towards everyday use as the Urus SUV. The Huracan hits that sweet spot: sporty, aggressive, and versatile enough to appeal to a range of drivers.

It’s available in both all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive configurations, as a coupe or convertible, with track-focused sporty designs or more elegant city-oriented styles, as well as various special editions. This makes it one of the most versatile ranges in the brand’s lineup. The Huracan family includes the elegant Huracan EVO, the dynamic Huracan Tecnica, the track-ready Huracan STO, and the versatile Huracan Sterrato.

In our Drive Me Barcelona fleet, we have both a Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder and a Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica. While they share the same core DNA, there are some significant differences in both performance and style. In this article, we’ll break down how they differ and give you a detailed look at the features that make each version unique.

Power and performance

As expected, both the Lamborghini Huracan EVO and the Huracan Tecnica share the iconic 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, one of the defining features of the Huracan lineup. Both models produce a maximum output of 640 hp at 8,000 rpm, but they differ slightly in torque: the EVO generates 600 Nm, while the Tecnica delivers 565 Nm, both available at 6,500 rpm. Although this difference might seem small, it directly impacts the acceleration response and dynamic behavior of each model.

However, the most notable difference between the two lies in their drivetrain. While both models use the same 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the Huracan EVO comes with all-wheel drive (AWD), providing better control and grip in nearly any situation. In contrast, the Huracan Tecnica sends all its power to the rear axle (RWD), resulting in a more purist and direct driving experience. It’s worth mentioning that, in addition to the all-wheel-drive EVO, Lamborghini launched a rear-wheel-drive version in 2020, the Huracan EVO RWD, which maintains the same power and design but offers a more sport-oriented driving experience.

When it comes to performance, the differences are minimal but still notable. The Huracan EVO Spyder accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, ahead of the Tecnica, which takes 3.2 seconds, and the EVO RWD, which does it in 3.3 seconds. From 0 to 200 km/h, both the EVO Spyder and the Tecnica record a time of 9.1 seconds, while the EVO RWD takes 9.3 seconds. All three models reach a top speed of 325 km/h, confirming that, despite their slight differences, all offer exceptional performance.

Beyond the numbers, dynamic handling is another area where the Huracan Tecnica stands out. Positioned between the radical approach of the STO and the more refined attitude of the EVO, it features a specific setup with personalized adjustments in the Strada, Sport, and Corsa driving modes. These modes make the most of components such as adaptive suspension, rear-axle steering, torque vectoring, and traction control systems to tailor the car’s character to each situation. The result is a versatile vehicle, capable of offering comfort on the road and maximum precision on the track.

Two opposing designs: elegance in the EVO, sportiness in the Tecnica

The bodywork and aerodynamics are undoubtedly the most visible elements that set the two versions apart.

Starting with the front end, the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica has undergone a complete redesign compared to the EVO. While the EVO retains a design more faithful to the traditional Huracan aesthetic, with a wide and angular look dominated by two large side air intakes, the Tecnica breaks away from that mold. It adopts a completely different identity: far more aggressive and aerodynamically focused, featuring sharper lines and more defined shapes.

Its front bumper features a new “Ypsilon” design, with Y-shaped slats that extend from each headlight. This innovation is inspired by the Terzo Millennio hypercar prototype and has also been adopted by other models like the Sián FKP 37 and the Revuelto. But this is not just an aesthetic change: this design introduces air curtains for the first time in a Huracan, improving aerodynamic efficiency along the sides. It also comes with a new front splitter, which balances the front aerodynamic load and channels air toward the brakes, as well as a hood made entirely of carbon fiber.

The changes continue along the profile and rear of the Huracan Tecnica. The side windows and upper air intakes have been modified to resemble the Essenza SCV12 competition prototype. The new vertical rear window improves visibility, while the rear hatch, made from carbon fiber, incorporates vents that help release heat from the V10 engine, which is partially visible.

At the rear, the Tecnica introduces a fixed rear spoiler, as well as a new model-specific rear bumper with a larger air intake that improves hot air evacuation and reduces turbulence. Completing the redesign, the exhaust pipes take on a hexagonal shape instead of the traditional circular exits of the EVO, further emphasizing its aggressive identity.

However, where the Tecnica’s redesign truly makes a difference compared to the EVO is in aerodynamic performance: the addition of a fixed rear wing increases rear downforce by 35% while simultaneously reducing aerodynamic drag by 20%. This results in enhanced high-speed stability and more responsive, precise handling.

An interior with no significant changes

The interior of both models maintains Lamborghini’s classic design, with no major structural changes but impeccable execution that stands out for the quality of its finishes. The entire cabin is upholstered in Alcantara, evoking luxury and sportiness in every detail.

At the center of the console is the now-iconic 8.4-inch vertical touchscreen, which manages the vehicle’s main functions and infotainment system. Just below it, the characteristic red flip cover that conceals the ignition button becomes the true focal point of the cabin.

The multifunction steering wheel provides direct access to key controls, while the digital instrument cluster, located just behind, offers a clear, driver-focused interface. In the Huracan Tecnica, this panel adopts a more minimalist design, with a more defined arch and fewer colors, improving readability.

Both models feature a complete connectivity system, compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, voice control via Amazon Alexa, and navigation through What3Words.

Weight and dimensions

In terms of size, the Huracan Tecnica is 4,7 centimeters longer than the Huracan EVO, measuring 4,567 mm compared to the EVO’s 4520 mm. At first glance, especially from the side, it’s hard to notice, although the Tecnica visually appears lower and wider. However, both models share exactly the same width (including mirrors): 2236 mm. As for height, the difference is minimal: the EVO stands at 1180 mm, while the Tecnica sits just slightly lower at 1165 mm.

Where we do see a more noticeable difference is in weight. Thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber throughout its bodywork, the Tecnica achieves a dry weight of 1379 kg, 43 kg lighter than the EVO, which weighs 1422 kg. In the case of the EVO Spyder, the soft-top roof adds extra weight, bringing it up to 1442 kg, creating a 63 kg difference compared to the Tecnica.

These figures are reflected in the power-to-weight ratio, where the Tecnica comes out ahead with 2,15 kg/HP, compared to 2,22 kg/HP for the EVO and 2,40 kg/HP for the EVO Spyder.

Final verdict

After going over the main differences between the Lamborghini Huracán EVO and the Lamborghini Huracán Tecnica, it’s clear that both models deliver exceptional performance and driving dynamics. While they share the same mechanical foundation, they embody two distinct philosophies within the Huracan lineup: the EVO presents a more elegant and balanced approach, ideal for those looking for a stylish, comfortable, and versatile supercar. The Tecnica, on the other hand, is built for those who want to push boundaries, with a sportier character, a more aggressive design, and a setup tuned to unleash its full potential on the track.

Ultimately, the best way to find out which one suits you best is by getting behind the wheel. The choice between the two comes down to personal preference and the kind of thrill you’re after: do you want a refined and stylish supercar, or one with the heart and soul of a track machine?

At Drive Me Barcelona, you have the chance to drive both and decide for yourself which one fits you best.

Ferrari is not just another luxury car brand; it is a true icon of status and admiration. Its name alone evokes character, power, and elegance. Founded by the legendary Enzo Ferrari, first in Modena and later in Maranello, the Prancing Horse brand has established itself as an undisputed reference in the world of high-performance supercars and luxury. However, this exclusivity comes at a price: owning a Ferrari involves not only a high acquisition cost but also significant maintenance expenses, making it a privilege reserved for a select few.

But if your dream is to experience driving one, even if only for a few hours, there is now a much more accessible alternative: renting. While car rentals are traditionally associated with practical and affordable everyday options, the luxury sector has been gaining ground. More and more companies are adding supercars to their catalogs, allowing more people to feel – even if just for a brief moment – what it means to be behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

In this article, we will tell you how much it costs to rent a Ferrari, the requirements you must meet, and why this legendary Italian brand inspires such passion around the world.

What makes Ferrari such a coveted masterpiece?

Every Ferrari supercar exudes a unique aura, an imposing presence that few – if any – can match. The brand has not only succeeded in creating high-performance vehicles but has also elevated each model to the status of a true work of art on wheels.

The design of each Ferrari embodies elegance in its purest form, with fluid and sophisticated lines that seamlessly combine aesthetics and functionality. Aerodynamics and lightness are fundamental pillars of every model, evident in the wide air intakes, prominent diffusers, and carefully integrated spoilers. Signature elements such as the elongated hood, the gently sloping roof, and the compact rear end project an unmistakable image of speed and dynamism.

The interior is no exception. Ferrari cabins exude luxury without veering into ostentation. Top-quality materials such as handcrafted leather, carbon fiber, and metallic details are meticulously selected to offer an exceptional driving experience. Everything is designed with the driver in mind: controls are accessible, intuitive, and ergonomically arranged to keep the focus on what truly matters: enjoying every second behind the wheel.

Price

Driving a Ferrari is an exclusive experience, and given its high acquisition cost, renting one for a limited time becomes a much more accessible alternative for the general public. So, how much does it really cost to rent a Ferrari?

The answer is not straightforward, as the final rental price depends on several factors: the selected model, rental duration, included mileage, and the required security deposit. Renting a Ferrari California is not the same as renting a Ferrari 296 GTB, and even within each model, there may be variations depending on the specific version and the vehicle’s condition.

Each luxury car rental company sets its own rates, which may vary depending on current demand and the model’s age. At Drive Me Barcelona, we offer four Ferrari models in our catalog of supercars available for rent: the Ferrari California T, the Ferrari Portofino M, the Ferrari Roma Spider, and the Ferrari 296 GTB.

When we think about renting a car, the first thing that usually comes to mind is a practical and affordable model, ideal for getting around without complications. However, luxury car rentals, especially supercars, are a growing trend. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see these extravagant vehicles cruising through the city, and if there’s one brand that stands out among the favorites, it’s Lamborghini.

Lamborghinis don’t go unnoticed: their striking design, the unmistakable roar of their engines, and the sense of exclusivity they exude make them the dream of many. That’s why, to meet the increasing demand, more and more rental companies are adding them to their catalogs, allowing more people to experience driving one, even if only for a limited time.

In this article, we’ll tell you how much it costs to rent a Lamborghini, what requirements you need to meet, and why so many people have a genuine passion for the iconic brand from Sant’Agata Bolognese.

Why does everyone want to drive a Lamborghini?

Without a doubt, what attracts Lamborghini customers the most is its extravagant design. Each model is designed to make an impact, with an aggressive and striking style that turns heads wherever it goes. Its wide stance and low posture, almost glued to the ground, along with the pronounced wheel arches and large air intakes, create an unmistakable, predatory, action-ready aesthetic. Additionally, its sharp, angular lines convey a sense of movement and determination even when standing still.

The interior is just as impressive. The same extravagance is reflected in the cabin, where a futuristic design and a fighter jet-inspired central console enhance its unique character. One of its most iconic details is the red flip-up cover over the start button, making the act of turning on the engine feel like launching a special mission.

But if there’s one thing that makes driving a Lamborghini an unparalleled sensory experience, it’s the thunderous roar of its engine. Most Lamborghini models are equipped with naturally aspirated engines that, unlike turbocharged ones, produce a pure and linear sound, free from turbo interference. This deep, deafening roar not only commands respect but also captures everyone’s attention as it passes by.

Price to rent a Lamborghini

The moment of truth has arrived, the question everyone is asking: how much does it cost to rent a Lamborghini?

The answer isn’t simple, as the price depends on several factors, such as the model, rental duration, included mileage, and security deposit. Renting a Lamborghini Huracan is not the same as renting a Lamborghini Aventador, and even within each model, prices may vary depending on the version and the vehicle’s condition. Moreover, each luxury car rental company sets its own rates, and prices can fluctuate based on demand, the car’s age, and its condition.

At Drive Me Barcelona, we offer two Lamborghini models in our catalog of supercars available for rent:

Lamborghini Huracan EVO Spyder: Equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine delivering 640 HP, it features all-wheel drive for maximum grip. Renting our matte yellow model requires a 7.000€ security deposit. The minimum rental price is 750€ for 2 hours, including 60 kilometers. If you prefer a longer rental, a full day will cost 1.895€, with 200 kilometers included. The maximum rental period is 28 days, at a cost of 1.469€ per day, with a mileage limit of up to 4.340 kilometers.

Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica: Known for its sporty character and aerodynamic design, with details like the fixed rear spoiler and carbon fiber hood and engine cover. Like the EVO, it comes with a 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine producing 640 HP, but unlike the EVO, the Tecnica features rear-wheel drive. Renting this model requires a 7.000€ security deposit, and the minimum rental price is 760€ for 2 hours, including 60 kilometers. A full-day rental costs 1.920€, with 200 kilometers included. The maximum rental period is 28 days, at a rate of 1.488€ per day, with a total mileage limit of up to 4.340 kilometers.

Rental requirements

Now that you know the rental prices for the Lamborghini supercars available at Drive Me Barcelona, it’s important to consider the necessary requirements for renting one. These conditions are specific to our company and may vary at other rental agencies. Please note that the information provided here applies exclusively to Drive Me Barcelona.

Classic attractions, such as the giant Ferris wheel and an expanded ice rink, return to delight visitors of all ages. These are complemented by highlights like the illuminated cable car and the charming Christmas train.

This year introduces two spectacular new light shows: a projection in blue hues on the Portal de la Pau building and a new lighting installation along Moll de la Fusta, where 50 trees will be adorned with LED lights to create a magical seaside promenade. This fair is the perfect spot to bask in the Christmas spirit in a charming maritime setting.

4. Indulge in the most traditional Christmas treat

One of the best ways to warm up during winter is by savoring a steaming cup of hot chocolate paired with crispy, delicious churros. This tradition, deeply rooted in Catalan culture, is one of the greatest joys of the Christmas season. If you love this classic treat, here’s a selection of Barcelona’s top chocolate shops and churros shops to delight your taste buds with the timeless flavors of Christmas:

Here, you can enjoy everything from classic churros with chocolate to irresistible churros filled with pastry cream, dulce de leche, and a variety of other flavors. Located in the heart of L’Eixample, you’ll find it at Plaça Sagrada Família, 26.

– Churrería Trébol: If you’re looking for authenticity, this is the place to be.

5. Explore the Christmas Markets and Fairs

At Christmas, Barcelona fills with markets that, with their unique charm, transform the city into a festive celebration space. There are two main types of Christmas markets in the city: the historic ones, some with over 200 years of tradition, and the modern “pop-up markets” that have become more popular in recent years. Both offer a festive atmosphere that reflects the Christmas spirit, but each has its own character.

The oldest and most traditional Christmas markets in Barcelona are three: the Fira de Santa Llúcia, the best-known, held next to the Cathedral since 1786; the Fira de Nadal de la Sagrada Família, located around the iconic basilica; and the Fira de Reis de la Gran Via, stretching along the famous avenue, offering a wide variety of products.

These markets open for several weeks, with the Fira de Santa Llúcia and Fira de la Sagrada Família starting in late November, while the Fira de Reis usually opens a bit later and runs until the eve of Three Kings’ Day. Although each market has its own schedule, their dates often overlap in the days leading up to Christmas, creating a unique celebratory atmosphere.

As for the products, Barcelona’s traditional Christmas markets share many similarities, though with some differences. At the older ones, such as Fira de Santa Llúcia and Fira de la Sagrada Família, you’ll find a wide variety of Christmas trees, festive decorations, and traditional nativity scenes, with figures and accessories to customize your own nativity. They also sell gift items, many of them handmade or artisanal.

On the other hand, the Fira de Reis de la Gran Via is more focused on children, offering a wide selection of toys and gifts, as well as products for celebrating Three Kings’ Day. And of course, there are the traditional candy stalls and classic churros shops, offering a tempting break to recharge while soaking in the festive atmosphere.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum is a futuristic building with 9 floors and 16,500 m², housing 160 cars and over 1,500 objects related to the brand’s history. From Carl Benz’s first car in 1886 to the most innovative prototypes of the future, every corner of the museum tells a part of the history of the automobile.

The Porsche Museum, on the other hand, is a true homage to speed and innovation. Inside, more than 100 vehicles showcase the evolution of this iconic brand, from Ferdinand Porsche’s earliest designs to today’s most advanced supercars. Additionally, for true fans, the visit can be complemented with a factory tour. Among the available options are the assembly lines for the legendary 911 and 718 models, the production of the fully electric Taycan, and the facilities where their advanced combustion and electric engines are developed.

The arrival of the Ferrari Portofino M in Maranello in 2020 marked a significant step forward in the 2+2 grand tourer category. This model not only carried on the legacy of the original Portofino, launched in 2017 as the successor to the California T and the California, but also introduced major improvements in its mechanics and performance, clearly indicated by the inclusion of the “M” in its name, which stands for “Modificata.”

However, Ferrari had already made waves a year earlier, in 2019, with the introduction of the Ferrari Roma. This 2+2 grand tourer coupe offered a completely fresh take within the same category, redefining the concept of style and exclusivity that defines the brand.

Although the Portofino M and the Roma share certain elements, they also have important differences. In this article, we explore the most notable variations that set them apart to better understand their unique characteristics.

Engine and Performance

The Ferrari Portofino M and the Ferrari Roma share the exact same powertrain, allowing them to deliver identical performance. Both models are powered by the renowned 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine placed at the front, belonging to the award-winning engine family that has won the International Engine of the Year award for four consecutive years.

In this configuration, the 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which channels all the power to the rear axle, producing 620 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 760 Nm. An impressive 80% of the torque is available from just 1,900 rpm, ensuring a smooth and robust power delivery at all times.

Thanks to these remarkable specifications, both models achieve exceptional performance figures: accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, reaching 200 km/h in 9.3 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 320 km/h. These capabilities solidify the Portofino M and the Roma as two of the most powerful grand tourers in their class.

Exterior design

The exterior design highlights one of the most obvious differences between the Ferrari Portofino M and the Ferrari Roma. While the Portofino M stays true to Ferrari’s classic design language, with pronounced features and a formal structure rooted in elements common to most of the brand’s models, the Roma embraces a more modern aesthetic that blends futurism with clear nods to the past.

The Ferrari Roma represents the brand’s new stylistic approach, featuring clean, minimalist lines that evoke the elegance of classic grand tourers from the 1950s and 1960s. Its design draws inspiration from iconic models like the Ferrari Daytona, with a long, sharp front hood and a line that flows seamlessly from the rear window to the trunk. Details such as the pointed front end and polygonal front lights, visible even from the side profile, enhance its nostalgic yet refined character.

In contrast, the Portofino M evolves Ferrari’s more traditional design language, with bolder lines and a more functional, sporty appearance compared to the Roma. This distinction is particularly noticeable at the rear, where the roof type significantly impacts the vehicle’s silhouette. The Portofino M is equipped with a retractable hardtop, which requires a bulkier rear section to house the mechanism. This feature gives it a muscular and practical look. The Roma, on the other hand, features a roofline that slopes gently towards the trunk, creating a fluid, aerodynamic silhouette that emphasizes its elegance. Moreover, in the convertible Roma Spider, the roof is replaced by a lightweight retractable fabric top, contributing to an even sleeker design.

The rear diffusers further distinguish the two models. On the Portofino M, the diffuser is larger and sports a more dynamic design, complementing its robust and energetic image. Conversely, the Roma’s diffuser is more subtly integrated, with refined lines that blend seamlessly into the car’s overall design.

Finally, the LED lighting also plays a key role in setting these models apart. The Portofino M retains the classic circular taillights, partially integrated into the trunk lid. The Roma, however, opts for a more contemporary look with four elongated horizontal lights.

Interior

The interior of the Ferrari Roma has been completely redesigned compared to the Ferrari Portofino M, making it one of the most striking features of this model. The design introduces a new layout for controls, interfaces, and commands. One of the most notable innovations is the repositioning of the central multimedia screen, which shifts from the traditional horizontal orientation to a vertical one. This change creates a distinct separation between the driver’s and passenger’s zones.

Additionally, the Roma replaces nearly all physical buttons with touch controls. The steering wheel has also been redesigned to incorporate numerous touch-sensitive controls, giving it a more modern and streamlined appearance. The same approach applies to the infotainment and climate control systems, which are now fully touch-based, offering a more intuitive and elegant user experience.

Weight and Dimensions

The weight and size differences between the Ferrari Portofino M and the Ferrari Roma, while subtle, highlight specific characteristics of each model. For instance, the Roma stands out for being slightly longer, measuring 4,656 mm compared to the Portofino M’s 4,594 mm, giving it a sleeker profile. It is also marginally wider, with a width of 1,974 mm versus the Portofino M’s 1,938 mm.

In terms of height, the Portofino M holds the advantage at 1,318 mm compared to the Roma’s 1,301 mm, resulting in a slightly taller design. Regarding weight, the Portofino M weighs in at 1,739 kg dry, while the Roma coupe is lighter at 1,645 kg. The Roma Spider variant, with its fabric roof, tips the scales at 1,729 kg, making it slightly lighter than the Portofino M.

Conclusion

The terms “supercar” and “hypercar” are often used interchangeably, with many believing they’re simply two ways to describe the same type of vehicle. However, while both represent the pinnacle of automotive engineering, there are significant distinctions that set them apart. Beyond the luxury, power, and striking design they both share, the key difference lies in the levels of exclusivity, technological innovation, and performance each one delivers.

In this article, we’ll explain what qualifies a car to be classified as a supercar and what exclusive features elevate certain models to the hypercar category. We’ll explore how factors like power, design, and cutting-edge technology define and differentiate these two categories, helping you understand why only a select few models achieve hypercar status.

Supercar vs. Hypercar: key differences

For those unfamiliar with the world of high-performance cars, supercars and hypercars might simply appear to be luxury sports cars. However, to true enthusiasts, hypercars take everything to the next level—from groundbreaking engineering and cutting-edge technology to extreme speed and an exclusivity that few models can rival. Every hypercar represents the pinnacle of automotive innovation, setting itself apart not just in performance but also as a unique status symbol of desire.

Supercar Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Supercars are defined by their speed and power, designed to excel both on the road and on the track. These vehicles combine high-performance engines with meticulously crafted aerodynamic designs. Their bodies, with aggressive lines and strategically placed air intakes, are optimized to channel airflow for cooling the engine, brakes, and other critical components. Aerodynamic elements like wings, diffusers, and other features reduce drag and enhance stability at high speeds. Supercars are built using ultra-lightweight materials, such as carbon fiber, to reduce weight and improve performance. With engines often exceeding 500 horsepower, supercars are also equipped with advanced suspension and braking systems, delivering precise handling whether in urban environments or on race tracks.

Hypercar Zenvo TSR-S

On the other hand, hypercars take automotive performance to an entirely new level and represent the pinnacle of technology and power in the industry. These cars push performance to the limit: engines capable of producing over 1,000 horsepower, top speeds exceeding 350 km/h, and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds. The production of a hypercar involves not only meticulously optimized aerodynamics but also the use of extremely high-quality and costly materials, such as titanium, the purest carbon fiber, and even precious metals like gold or rhodium, used in key details and components. Additionally, their production is extremely limited; each model is manufactured in exclusive and customized runs, enhancing their status as collector’s items and symbols of prestige. While a supercar may be priced between 200,000 and 600,000 euros, hypercars usually start at one million euros and, in some cases, exceed three million.

Conclusion

In summary, the difference between a supercar and a hypercar goes far beyond the speed and luxury they both display. Supercars offer a blend of power, aerodynamic design, and cutting-edge technology that makes them equally suitable for the road and the track. However, hypercars represent the pinnacle of automotive engineering, pushing every aspect of performance and exclusivity to nearly unattainable levels.

With horsepower, speed, and acceleration figures that defy limits, ultra-premium materials, and extremely limited production runs, hypercars are more than just vehicles—they are objects of desire, collector’s items, and testaments to how far innovation can go in the automotive industry.

Ultimately, while supercars are designed to deliver a thrilling and unparalleled driving experience, hypercars are the epitome of automotive excellence, reserved for those who seek nothing but the absolute best.
